PREFACE

By Richard Clark, S.B.G.

If there was ever a time when a people or nation or the world needed a Revival, that time is NOW! A time of lawlessness and falling away; a time when the word of God is being pushed underfoot and most Christians stand passively by and watch the world go on its merry way to HELL; a time when very few Christians know anything at all about being filled with the Spirit or walking according to the will of God! The time for Revival is NOW!

Oh Sure, I've heard Christians and "leaders" in the Church saying that Revival for America is a thing of the past, but that is because of the fact that they themselves are NOT revived!

"The priests said not, Where [is] the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after [things that] do not profit." (Jeremiah 2:8)

Most Christians only regard Revival from the angle of some longed for, but very rare, sudden out-pouring of the Spirit. The common conception of Revival is usually of a spectacular religious awakening, when large numbers of unconcerned sinners are convicted of their sins and brought to Christ amidst a great deal of excitement.

Such a visitation of the Spirit of God, while to be greatly desired, is thought to be largely unaccountable and something for which we can only pray and wait for, in God's good time, and meanwhile we have to go on being defeated and the Church must somehow strive to continue her witness without Power.

True Revival is very often the very opposite of all that. It isn't spectacular at all. It is certainly no spectacle to the person facing up to his sins in the light of the word of God! Spectacle is the least part of Revival.

"The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9)

Revival is not something that God does first among the unconverted, but among his own people. Judgment must begin at the house of God! (1 Peter 4:17p) The word Revival implies there was life there, but that it has faded. Unsaved people don't need re-vival, they need vival (life). It is the Christians who need Revival.

The only Christians who are capable of being revived, are those who are prepared to confess that there has been a falling away in their own lives. And the more specific the confession, the more definitely will God revive. And when that happens with us, God will be able to work among the lost in new power and we'll see the power of God!

If God is to bless you at all with this message, you must be willing to let God satisfy that deep hunger in your heart. You must be willing for God to begin his work in you first, rather than in the other person. You must have an holy expectancy that God can and will meet your need, and if you are in any sense a "leader" of other Christians, the urgency of this matter is many times increased.

Above all, you must realize that you must be the first to humble yourself at the Cross, "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself." (Romans 14:7) It was when the King of Ninevah arose from his "throne" and then covered himself with sack-cloth and sat in ashes in repentance, that his people then repented. And if you are not a leader, don't be tempted to look at those who are and wait for them. God wants to begin with each of us: NOW!

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

P.S. This series of messages is not mine alone, but is the work of many that have gone before me. The fields are white already to harvest!

"I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours." (John 4:38)

May the Lord Jesus be with thee and lead thee into this wonderful blessing of growth and Revival Now. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:14) Grace be with thy heart. Amen. --Richard Clark, S.B.G. (Saved By Grace! :)
