From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subj: PAUL'S DIFFERENT GOSPEL
>>>CQ> Okay, I remember my question. Okay, with chapter and verse, can you show me anywhere before acts 13:39 where Paul preached the "gospel of Christ"? Can you prove that?
Hi [Name], that sounds like a DARE...
"For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." (Rom.15:18,19)
BTW: Isn't Illyricum (Dalmatia) the area of Bosnia/Herzegovina?
>>QU> No, as far as I know that is when he first preached the gospel of grace, at least that's where its first written. But, I believe he was saved by grace, and is the pattern for everyone else in this age... ITim.1:13.
>CQ> True, but that verse doesn't really prove that's what Paul *FIRST* preached.
What Paul(Saul) first preached: "And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God." (Acts 9:20)
And Paul, before king Agrippa, said: "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance." (Acts 26:20)
>CQ> I sometimes wonder if he at first preached the "gospel of the kingdom" --- how else could he be accepted among Peter's group?
It is evident that Paul was still "preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ" at the end of the book of the Acts of the Apostles, as the time of his "departure" drew near.
>CQ> Wouldn't they have thought that he was an imposter, this man that was out to destroy their message and lives?
"And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus." (Acts 9:26,27)
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. --Richard
