>CQ> Without the threat of hell, the modern conception of salvation in organized Christianity would have no appeal.
There is no "threat of hell" in the BIBLE conception of salvation through the gospel ("glad tidings") of the GRACE of God.
>CQ> ...knowledge he will accrue in the process will greatly be to his benefit in understanding the true message of the gospel.
The TRUE message of "the gospel" as declared by Paul in 1Cor.15:1-11 makes no mention of "hell" at all. The word "hell" does not appear ANYWHERE in all Paul's epistles, which comprise more than half of the books of the New Testament.
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, and was buried, and rose again from the dead for our justification through faith in his blood. Christ holds the KEYS of hell and of death. In Christ is ETERNAL LIFE.
Do you have eternal life? Have you received the free gift of God? The word of faith says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Grace be to them that cherish the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. --Richard
