From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subj: Re: MARY
>>QU> Question: Was Jesus the only child that Mary gave birth to?
>CQ> Mat 13:55 "Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
>CQ> He in fact had four half-brothers. They all shared the same mother, Mary, but their father was Joseph. That is why Mary is meantioned and Joseph is not, because she is the mother of all five of them, but Joseph was only the biological father to the four younger ones.
Mary had at least seven children: Jesus, James, Joses, Simon, Judas; plus at least two girls not mentioned by name, among those whom the Spirit of Christ called "my mother's chiildren".
"And his sisters, are they not all with us?" (Mt.13:56p :)
Mark verifies that JESUS' MOTHER'S CHILDREN were of his own house:
"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house." (Mk.6:3,4)
It's really sad that people living before Jesus was born knew that his mother would have other children; BUT TODAY, there are people who abandon their God-given common sense and embrace the false teachings of traditions which make the word of God of none effect.
Let me remind anyone reading this, that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, and rose from the dead for our justification through faith in his blood. (Greater love hath no man than this! :)
QUESTION: "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (Ac.16:30p)
THE ANSWER: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Ac.16:31p) (Trust THE LORD to save you! :)
Grace be with your heart, in love for Jesus' sake. Amen. --Richard
