From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subject: Praying to the Saints
>CQ> They don't feel worthy to approach the Almighty directly. This is what the priest is for. But since Mary appeared to one of them directly (La Virgen de Guadalupe) and they understand that she is Jesus' mother AND since in their culture a good Son will do ANYTHING His mother asks......
After the son of David became king, Adonijah went to his MOTHER, and petitioned her that she speak unto her son to grant a certain thing. He thought that her son would not say "Nay" to a request from her. She approached her son the king, who bowed to her and set her at his right hand, and she said: "I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay." And he said: "Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay." And she asked that Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah for a wife.
The king answered and said unto his mother: "And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah."
The Lord's anointed then sware by the LORD, saying: "God do so to me, and more also, If Adonijah have not spoken this word against his life. Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day." (ref.1Kings 2:12-25)
Adonijah greatly erred in thinking he could get his request granted by sneaking in the request through the mother of the son of David.
Before the Lord Jesus died on the cross, he gave Mary to John for a mother, and John to her for a son. Earthly relationships end at death. "Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2Cor.5:16,17)
The Bible is clear that there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Be not deceived. Grace be to them that receive the truth in Christ Jesus the Lord. Amen. --Richard
