Knees and Prayer

>>>CQ> Where did we come up with the idea of having to be on our knees before we could pray?

>>QC> I wasn't putting any "position" requirements on the praying... I was just thinking that if we took the time to pray there might be less ""fuss'en"' among us ...... thats all.......<

>CQ> I wasn't trying to say or even imply that you had or were. It's just that I've heard a LOT of folks say that you've got to get down on your knees to pray for God to hear you and when you used that phrase I had to ask wonder where we ever got that notion.

"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Phil.2:10-12)

Interesting "notion" that Paul had there.

"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." (Eph.3:14-19)

Behold how Solomon prayed at the dedication of the temple:

"And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven." (1Kings 8:54)

Regardless of body position, the Lord KNOWS your heart. When Simon Peter, walking on the water, began to sink, he cried: Lord, save me! And the Lord immediately saved him from being baptized in the depth. (Peradventure he only had to sink to his knees when he was saved? :)

Remember that Jesus is the Lord and trust him with all thine heart. (Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.) Grace be with thine heart in love for Jesus' sake. Amen. --Richard
