From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subject: Jesus' brothers?
>>QU> Perhaps the brothers of Jesus were unbelievers at that time... His brother James became a believer.
>CQ> That is ALSO your OPINION, [name veiled], since you have no scriptural source to back that up!
>CQ> There is no timetable as to when Jesus' kinsman James became a believer since Jesus had no brothers in the narrow sense of the word.
Jesus was PLAINLY said to be "the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon" - as it is written in Mark 6:3. Paul met with "James the Lord's brother", as it is written in Galatians 1:19. The word adelphos, (brother,) means "from the womb." (He also had sisters among them he called "my mother's children." :)
As for when "James the Lord's brother" became a believer: AFTER the Lord Jesus arose from the dead, he appeared unto James, as it is written, "After that, he was seen of James" (1Cor.15:7p)
It is interesting to note that James, as well as other of his "mother's children", did not believe on him during his ministry before he was crucified, even though they saw his many miracles. Even Thomas, who like the other apostles was given power to perform miracles, (and power to raise the dead,) would not believe that Jesus had risen from the dead, unless he saw him in person. It is really sad that so many people look for excuses not to believe.
"But there are some of you that believe not." (--The Lord Jesus) "For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him." (Jn.6:64)
The word of faith says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Believest thou this? Remember that Jesus is the Lord and receive the love of the truth. Grace be unto you in mercy for Jesus' sake. Amen. --Richard
