Gift (2:38)

From a message by a Curious Questioner--

>>>QC> ...Acts 2. This was the very first time the Gosplel pattern of salvation was preached (2:37-38).

>>RC> Paul, the APOSTLE OF THE GENTILES says: "Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting." (1Tim.1:15)

>>RC> Woe be unto any man that rejects the gospel of 1Cor.15:1-11 and tries to steal what was given to "the house of Israel" (Acts 2:36p).
>>RC> REMEMBER that Jesus is the Lord and believe GOD!

>CQ> You said woe to him that stealeth the gift that is given to the house of Israel, or something like that.

No, that is not what was said! (Reread the statement above.)

Acts 2 has to do with the gift of the Holy Ghost unto the house of Israel, received AFTER water baptism. Acts 10 has to do with the gift of the Holy Ghost unto the (gentile) house of Cornelius, received WITHOUT water baptism.

>CQ> (That is, if you are coming from Acts 2) it is obvious that these are spiritual gifts.

The ONLY "gift" mentioned in Acts 2 is the "gift of the Holy Ghost." And you really ought to read Joel chapters 2 and 3 and see that the salvation for Israel spoken of there results in judgment upon the gentiles in the valley of Jehoshaphat and their DESTRUCTION! Gentiles that try to follow Israel's example in Acts 2 are like the Egyptians that tried to follow them into the red sea. Israel crossed on DRY ground, but those that followed their example got wet, and DROWNED!

>CQ> The point I was trying to make is that "...there is no defference between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."

"Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit." (1Cor.12:4)

There is no difference in the fact that ALL HAVE SINNED; and anyone can be saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, for WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. There are some differences in certain necessary things that pertain to dwelling peaceable together in the unity of the faith. See Acts 15:8-21.

The grace of the Lord be with you in understanding. Amen. --Richard
