The Existence Of God.

In beginning any BIBLICAL study, we ought to begin our study with GOD. After all, "In the beginning God..." Bible believers are sometimes challenged by atheists, skeptics and hecklers to prove that there is a God. It is difficult for a NATURAL man to believe in something that he cannot see, touch or feel: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1Cor.2:14)

The problem of GOD, to the Bible Believing Christian, is solved without question with the very first verse of the Holy Bible: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Gen.1:1)

The Bible is not a textbook that attempts to prove the existence of God; the Bible opens with the FACT that God does exist. The Bible plainly states that it is the fool who denies the existence of God. "The fool hath said in his HEART, There is no God."

Anyone with any intelligence would acknowledge the evident fact of the living God.

The greatest proof apart from scripture of the existence of God, is in the daily fellowship which we believers have with him in prayer. I know that there is a God because we talked with each other today! You can talk to God wherever you are, and he will ANSWER your earnest request to be SAVED! "LORD save me!"

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard." (Psalm 19:1-3)

Not only does the whole creation bear witness to its Creator, but: "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things." (Rom.1:20-23)

Any honest person who accepts the testimony of the scriptures must admit to the testimony of creation. Man is born with a universal belief in a supreme Being; no tribe has yet been discovered that lacks this. They know that some Being creates and controls.

"Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another." (Rom.2:15)

The existence of God is written within your own heart. When you stand before God in judgment, there is no excuse that you can give for your actions!

Sometimes, avowed atheists may claim that their conscience does not tell them about God. It is doubtful if a genuine atheist can be found, for at best, they are men who have suppressed conscience by blatant unbelief. Some are so blind that they may deny the existence of the sun in the sky, but that does not alter the fact that the sun exists, rises and sets each day. There is none so blind as he who refuses to see. The honest man will find that the inner still small voice says that God exists and is alive today.

Men sometimes deny God's existence, not because they can't find Him, but because they are afraid to FACE the responsibility of being accountable to Him after death. Atheism is one of the devil's tools to put men to sleep without accepting salvation. (If there is no God, then I am not responsible to anyone and I can live and die as I PLEASE...). But none of us liveth to himself, and none of us dieth to himself.

In the quieter moments of reflection the conscience of every man says, "There is a God," and only fools deny the testimony of their own heart.

To look up and see a plane and not see the pilot and then say that the plane is pilotless is as nutty as looking into the heavens and saying that there is no God, simply because you can't see Him.

You've never seen your own BRAIN! (And yet, you claim to have one! :)

Face reality. HERE WE ARE. We must have come from somewhere! Somebody or something must have caused the creation to come into being at one time or another. Here is a book. Someone must have written it. Not even the most modern printing presses can produce books all by themselves. Someone built the place you are dwelling in. Someone created the trees. Someone operates the whole universe.

If all the pieces of a watch were placed in a can and the can shaken gently for a million years, the watch would not be "accidently" put together and running. The ONLY sensible answer to the problem of the existence of the world, is the existence of an intelligent Being whom we call God.

"He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity." (Psalm 94:9-11)

Conscience teaches man right and wrong, good and bad; for the Creator is a moral Being that is holy, loves righteousness, and abhors evil.

Life comes from life, and the original life must have come from a Being possessing eternal life, that is, life that existed before any physical life was created. Where can such life be found? It can only be found in GOD, who possesses eternal life.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was LIFE; and the LIFE was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." (John 1:1-5)

All life proceeds from God. The theory of spontaneous generation has been proven false and completely unacceptable to authoritative science. Life must have a beginning. The only answer that fits all the facts, is that beginning was with God.

The acceptance of the existence of God as Creator of the world is like a key that fits ALL the facts of scripture, revelation, knowledge and science. This irrefutable doctrine is held tenasciously by multitudes of souls who are willing both to live and die in the consolation of this assurance.

"He that cometh to God must believe that he IS, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Then, as children in simple faith, based on the revelation of God in the holy scriptures and in the whole creation, let us come to the Lord, Jesus Christ, believing and trusting him completely.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God. "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."

Remember that Jesus is the Lord!
