"every word"

From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subject: Worship

>>QC> For the most part I find God being referred to either as God (theos) or the Father (pater) in the New Testament.

>CQ> Well, lets look at a couple examples...

>CQ> At Matthew 3:3 it is said of John the baptist:

"For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight." (Mt.3:3)

>CQ> Now, can you tell me where he was quoting from in Isaiah?

The THIRD verse of the THIRD chapter of Matthew refers to the THIRD verse of the "Matthew" CHAPTER of Isaiah. (Matthew is the 40th of the 66 books of the Bible. Isaiah has 66 chapters. :)

>CQ> Also, at Matthew 4:4 Jesus is quoted as saying: "It is written, ... " Can you tell me where he is quoting from in the Hebrew scriptures?

All the "written" sayings to the devil, the FIFTH cherub, are from the FIFTH book of the Bible, Deuteronomy (8:3, 6:16, 6:13, 10:20).

>Deut.8:3> And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

>Deut.6:16> Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

>Deut.6:13> Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

>Deut.10:20> Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

The word of faith says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. --Richard
