"Come And Dine."

From a message of 14Jul1994 from a man called Peter--
>CQ> Subj: MESSIANIC JUDAISM

>>Previous Person> ...many pork dinners originated from the days Antiochus...<

(Verily, some frozen "dinners" taste like they "originated" then! :)

>CQ> Before I accepted Christ, I was a vegetarian, with a few exceptions. I now eat fish and poultry somewhat more freely than before, though I am cautious because I do not think them particularly healthy.

"HIM that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs." - "All things are indeed pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offense." (Rom.14:1,2,20)

Before the flood, both man and other creatures were vegetarian, for their meat was herbs, grass, fruit, and seeds/nuts. After the flood, the LORD added "flesh" (without the blood) to the menu choices.

Now then, as for your CAUTION in eating fish and (water) fowl; which were brought forth from the waters the fifth day, (and "ground" fowl created after man was made in Gen.2, but before woman was made:)

No doubt you will recall that the children of Israel were given MANNA ("angel's food" --Psm.78:25p :) to eat in the morning, and QUAIL flesh to eat in the evening. Now, God's provision was surely "healthy", but anything taken in EXCESS can cause problems: so we are not surprised that when they LUSTED and GORGED themselves, they also vomited up the excess, into their NOSTRILS. The flesh God provides is "healthy"; but eating excess or eating "with offense" may not be!

As for fish, PETER, we see the Lord himself on the beach of the sea of Galilee (Tiberias), and behold: "a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread." And observe: "Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord." (Jn.21:9p,12 - check it out! :)

Surely no man would take "offense" at eating fish with the Lord! (Of course not, we all REJOICE to sit at his table! Amen. :)

>CQ> What do you think of the view that we should still follow God's directions to Adam, to gather and cultivate?

Christians follow this: "For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." (1Tim.4:4,5)

We should follow God's directions for us, giving all glory unto God. Remember the cost. So many martyrs, whose blood was poured out, that the word of God, his directions to us, would be preserved even to this day. And oh, the agony, and suffering of the only begotten Son of God, as his flesh was broken for us, and the precious blood of Christ was poured out for the redemption of our very souls. Remember that Jesus is the Lord and receive the love of the truth in your heart; and receive with THANKSGIVING, ALL that he lovingly gives us. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen. --Richard
