>CQ> Subj: RE: CLARIFICATION
>>QU> Matthew 1:18...
>>QU> ...she was found with child of the Holy Spirit."
>>QU> It doesn't say she was found with fetus, or anything else for that matter!
>CQ> Actually the Scriptures (Grk text) doesn't say either. If you want to translate the idiom literally, she was found with a thing in her gut!
Hi [Name], the greek there is Dative: "en-gastri-exousa" which means: "within-belly(action)-being/out", (or "with lively/belly-bumper." :) The expression is a description of the outward appearance and ACTION felt with the hand on the belly when the "babe" moves or kicks out! (Obviously such an expression is "pregnant" with meaning! :)
Keep in mind that she was more than three months pregnant when "found with child." Mary spent the time of her first trimester with her cousin Elisabeth, who was pregnant also, with John. Mary returned home to Nazareth after that, with that LIFE from God in her womb.
>CQ> There is no use of "child" in that passage, no nepios and definitely no paidion. Paidion is never used to describe an "unborn child" - fetus.
Nhpios (non-speaker/pre-school) and Paidion, (childling/immature), are not used for they mainly denote post-natal stages of development. Karpos (fruit) is used of Jesus when Mary was in her first trimester of pregnancy, and Brephos (babe) is used of John when Elisabeth was well past her first trimester; and Brephos (babe) is used of Jesus in the manger (cattle-feeding trough) where the shepherds found him.
Bear in mind also that Gabriel called John and Jesus sons even before their conception. And when Mary came to visit Elisabeth, John in Elisabeth's womb was aware of the presence of the Lord in Mary's womb (Grk.koilia), and John leaped in Elisabeth's womb for JOY! :)
>CQ> What makes a human being a human being - is it his genes, or is it his soul? If it is his genes, we all are lost. If it is soul, then his genes rotting in a coffin are a moot point.
The word "human" is not found anywhere in the Bible, since the word has connotations contrary to the genesis of man/mankind. Humus is what a man becomes after death, rotting and corrupting in the grave.
BTW: When Jeremiah was down in the dumps (slough of despond) because of persecution, he cursed the day of his birth, and cursed the man who did not abort him from the womb; or wished that his mother had died before he was born: "that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me." (Jer.20:17p)
As for genes versus soul, both are part of the life of man. Within your genes is the Tri-Duo-Binary-Coded (TDBC) letters (64 characters) of the writing of life with both program and data in a string array. (The WORD made flesh has some enlightening words in his DNA! :)
(Please see next message. Thanks. :)
From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> And as to whether Jesus would condone abortion, his comments were in regard to walking living breathing children, he never walked up to a pregnant mother and started talking to her fetus.
A pregnant mother in Gen.25:22 came to talk with him about the lively wrestling "children" in her womb, struggling to be Numero Uno! and he said: "Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." (Esau was first out of the starting gate, but Jacob finishes first! :)
>CQ> I thought I would do a little better job of answering as to whether Jesus Christ would condone abortion.
He never gave his blessing to aborticide or any other form of murder.
>CQ> As a fascitiously mentioned, Jesus Christ never addressed the subject of the unborn in the gospels.
"And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!" (Mt.24:19; see also Mk.13:17 and Lk.21:23)
The first "babe" in the Bible is Moses in a coffin/ark. The second "babe" in the Bible is John Baptist in her whose womb had been dead. The 3rd "babe" is Jesus in the manger. The last "babe" is "every one" that is unskilful in the word of righteousness. "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious." (1Pet.2:2,3)
(No matter what your age, it is said, Milk does a body good! :)
>CQ> The reason for this is... he had already done so in the OT, as I have previously discussed in Ex 21.22.
In Ex.21:22+ if no mischief follows the pre-mature birth, no sweat, but if mischief follow, if either the mother or her babe died or has permanent harm, such as loss of eye or arm (or is BURNED by abortion chemicals), then Justice says: Life for life, eye for eye, arm for arm, BURNING FOR BURNING! The soul of a babe in the womb is nourished by his mother, and woe be unto the woman "without natural affection" to care for such a precious gift, such a precious "bundle of life."
>CQ> Abortion is nothing more than a woman saying to God, for whatever reason, "no I don't want the gift of life".
AFTER God gives conception to a woman, the soul of the babe given is precious in his sight. If she "presumptuously" and "with guile" slays her BABE, then she is guilty of murder. If she was not seeking harm, but God delivered the life of the babe to death, then she would not be guilty of murder. The sin of pre-meditated aborticide is a most grevious and damnable offense against the blessed fruit of the womb.
Remember that Jesus is the Lord and behave thyself wisely before him. Grace be to thy heart, soul, mind and body in the sight of God, that thou mightest cherish the counsel of God unto thee. Amen.
