Do you know what was written above Jesus when he was crucified?
From a message by a Curious Questioner--
>CQ> Subject: Hebrew Latin GreekThere were only THREE "INSCRIPTIONS" at a time:
>CQ> Richard, if you would like to explain why there are listed FOUR SEPARATE INSCRIPTIONS over Christ's head in your fully historically, scientifically correct Author's Version, I would like to hear it.
1. (Hebrew, Greek, Latin ) --John (1st three :) 2. ( Greek, Latin, Hebrew) --Luke (2nd three :)
1. Keep in mind that John was with Jesus the whole way, including when Pilate WROTE the -title- and PUT it on the cross, BEFORE the soldiers parted the garments. (John 18:15, John 19:19, John 19:23)
2. AFTER the soldiers parted the garments, they sat down and watched him and then set up over his head his -accusation-. (Matt.27:35-37)
Pilate's initial hand-written copy was in Hebrew, Greek and Latin.
The 2nd copy put up by the soldiers was in Greek, Latin and Hebrew.
Apparently, Pilate first wrote "Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews" as the Title, but after the objections from the chief priests of the Jews, he kept what he had written, and instead of toning it down, a second writing was made with the more emphatic "THIS IS" included, which the soldiers posted above Jesus later on.
>THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS (Matthew 27:37) > THE KING OF THE JEWS (Mark 15:26) >THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS (Luke 23:38) > JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS (John 19:19) >THIS IS JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS (Final Combined)
>CQ> P.S. I accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The word of faith says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved; For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (What are you waiting for? :)
>CQ> I am also Roman Catholic. Am I Saved?

>>>>CQ3> Latin, Hebrew, and Greek.
>>>CQ2a> Wrong, it was "Latin, Greek, and Hebrew" (just being picky there, folks)
>CQ2b> You quoted John 19:20 (Hebrew, Greek, and Latin);LET GOD BE TRUE! (as it is written! :)
>CQ2b> I quoted Luke 23:38 (Greek, Hebrew, and Latin).
>CQ2b> Wonder which of us is right? grin>>
>CQ1> Subject: Hebrew Latin Greek
> CQ3> Latin Hebrew Greek false > CQ2a> Latin Greek Hebrew false >Apo.John> Hebrew Greek Latin true (John 19:20p) > Rich> Hebrew Greek Latin true (John 19:20p) >Eva.Luke> Greek Latin Hebrew true (Luke 23:38p) > CQ2b> Greek Hebrew Latin false > CQ1> Hebrew Latin Greek false
(That's the score so far. :)
"Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written." (John.19:21,22)
>>RC> THIS IS JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS
"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." (Jn.20:31)
Remember that Jesus is the Lord and be wise to receive the word of God as it is in truth. Grace be with you all. Amen.

>CQ> Subj: Hebrew, Greek and LatinHi [CQ], As far as I know, both the original writing by Pilate (in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin;) and the accusation (in Greek, Latin, and Hebrew) put on the cross by the soldiers, have not been preserved. What was passed down to us was the GREEK writings of the four evangelists in the gospels. Here is what the Greek in the gospels looks like:
>CQ> I would like to see the inscription in the languages mentioned by John in Chapter 19. I would like to see it in each of the three languages. Do you have this inscription in the actual languages mentioned by John and caused to be written by Pilot?
>CQ> If not, do you know how I can find this. I would just like to see Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, as it appears in each of the three languages.
>CQ> I would appreciate any help you can be in my search.
Roman Catholics represent the Latin of John 19:19 as "INRI" which is:
And the Hebrew would read (right to left) something like this:
And all together in "letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew"--
The 1611 Authorized King James Version also has "letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew"! The original preface includes Greek and Latin words and phrases and the main 22 Hebrew letters are in Psalm 119.
The KING's English in the AV1611 has 27 letters in the alphabet counting the letter Æ (or æ) which is an A for Adam married to an E for Eve, (and what therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder! :)
Remember that Jesus is the Lord and be wise to receive the word of God as it is in truth. Grace be with you all. Amen.
