From a "Curious Questioner" (CQ7) followup to Ark in the desert--
>CQ7> What I cannot understand is that God forgot the unicorns,
but remembered the roaches!!
The biblical unicorns WERE included in the ark, but maybe you haven't seen a one-horned rhinoceros in your backyard lately.
"Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him? Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?" (Job.39:9-12)
You don't find many tame rhinoceroses eating out of a crib after plowing a field. People who would count on a rhinoceros to plow their fields wouldn't bring home any seed to gather into the barn.
The Asian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros UNICORNUS :) stands between 5 and 6 feet high at the shoulder and a large male may weigh about 2 tons. They are vegetarian, rather stocky and strong, and have poor eyesight. (Job's land of Uz was in Asia, east of the Jordan river. :)
